About 2023 Audi S5
Audi’s car lineup is expansive and offers something for everyone, including several variants of the same car. The A5 and S5 are available in three body styles and multiple trims, but the S5 gets far more power and more aggressive handling. The Audi S5 competes in a wide-ranging class that includes the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the BMW M3 and M4, and the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. Audi offers the S5 in three configurations: Coupe, Sportback, and Cabriolet. Updates for the 2023 model year include new matrix LED headlights, a new Bang and Olufsen sound system for the Premium Plus trim, and the addition of a Black Optics Plus package that includes a black rear spoiler, blacked-out badges, and black exhaust finishers. The S5 with Convenience package gets adaptive cruise control, and there’s an available Audi Sport interior package with black upholstery, red stitching, and carbon fiber inlays. Audi’s leaving the drivetrain alone, so the car keeps its 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and eight-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain delivers 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque for a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. Depending on the configuration, the S5 can come with a torque-vectoring rear differential that can shift power side to side for better traction and handling. Audi offers several other upgrades for the car, including the Dynamic Steering Package, which improves the steering ratio. Information from Audi shows the S5 getting 20 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined; this fuel economy is competitive against its rivals. Cabin finishes are excellent and include soft touch materials. Though the back seat is nearly nonexistent, the S5 offers good front seat space and comfortable buckets. Heating and massage are standard, and the sport seats are supremely supportive. The coupe and sportback deliver good cargo space and small-item storage, but the space in the convertible suffers from the folding top apparatus in the trunk. The S5 comes standard with the latest Audi MMI infotainment software, which runs on a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. The car is available with Audi’s excellent configurable digital gauge cluster, which can be set up to display maps, audio information, vehicle status, and more. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Audi offers a Bang and Olufsen sound system. The 2023 S5 has not yet been crash tested, and its predecessor missed out on a Top Safety Pick Award from the IIHS. We’ll have to wait to find out how the new model scores, but Audi offers several advanced driver aids, including a parking-assist system with both perpendicular and parallel parking settings, a traffic-relief system with adaptive cruise control and lane management, and a top-down camera system with surround views of the car. Details on pricing and release dates for the 2023 Audi S5 are not yet available, but we expect it to start somewhere around the 2022 base of $56,395.
